On Monday, September 25, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern, the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) and American Prospect will host a forum on “The Battle for Tax Equity,” at the National Press Club. As Congress prepares to debate a range of changes to the tax code, experts and economists will discuss how corporations avoid paying their fair share and what can be done about it, as well as how the current movement for tax “reform” threatens to move the tax code further from efficiency and equality.
The Battle for Tax Equity will feature the following panels:
Panel I: International Tax Evasion and Avoidance
Prof. Kimberly Clausing, Reed College
Jeff Ferry, Coalition for a Prosperous America
Bill Parks, Northwest River Supplies
Moderator: Bob Kuttner, The American Prospect
Panel II: The Assault on Tax Efficiency and Equity
Jared Bernstein, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
Aruna Kalyanam, House Ways and Means Committee
Bill Spriggs, AFL-CIO
Moderator: Josh Bivens, EPI
This event is free and open to the public and lunch will be provided. Your RSVP will help us prepare.
